These two photos were taken from within the main Temple Room at the Bodhi Tree Temple. Arthur took these photos of the Lamas
during March 2007 Proxy Program. Each night for 30 minutes several Lamas from the Local Namgyal Monastery, The Dalai Lama's
Monastery,  gather in the main Temple room for 30 minutes of Puja Chanting.

Arthur will be joining them on behalf of the Proxy program participants during this evening Chanting. This evening chanting takes
place at 6:00pm Local Time. If you look closely you can see the back of the Lama's heads as they look up to the large Buddha Statue
during the chanting.
The monk with the yellow robe at the front of the photo is one of the Bodhi Tree Temple Attendants. He is locking the gate to
the room preventing anyone from entering during the nightly chanting.
On the right we see the
same Lamas during a New
Years Celebration march.

They are returning to their
Monastery after having
carried a statue of the
Buddha to the Bodhi Tree
Temple for special
ceremonies.

These are the same Lamas
that preformed the Daily
morning and evening Pujas
March 2007.
According to many Lamas and Shamans alike, any ceremonies preformed at the Bodhi Tree are greatly enhanced in their
effectiveness. Lama Zopa has claimed that any offerings and rituals performed at the Bodhi Tree are increased in effectiveness
by 1000 fold.  We are very grateful to be able to participate in these sacred gatherings on behalf of the Proxy Program
Participants.
Prayer and meditation go hand in hand in Bodhgaya. Compassion for all sentient beings is seen in many forms of expression
including the Prayer Wheel. Here we see a set of prayer wheels, an inside each container are thousands and thousands of
prayers carefully contained within the "prayer wheel" By turning the wheel one receives the blessings of all the prayers within
the wheel, thus each turn of the wheel is equal to have chanted thousands of prayers.
Here are some photos of the Lamas from The Nymgal Monastery. We are very grateful to able to participate in these programs
with the Lamas on your behalf. Folks participating in the Proxy program have claimed that they truly felt their presence and their
compassion. Tibetan Ritual and Lamas are highly respected and honored among the Native American and Mayan Elders as well as
Spiritual Traditions and religions around the globe.

Their dedication to all sentient beings and the spiritual development for all humanity is easily recognized and felt very deeply
when in their presence. This is equally matched by their rich mystical expertise which has cause spiritual seekers from all walks
of life to search them out. We are so grateful and fortunate that they have provided us with the opportunity to work so closely
with them and in such an intimate way!
Here are some photos of the Namgyal Tibetan Lamas who will be performing the weekly Pujas.
Please Note: These Particular Lamas are from HH The Dalai Lama's Personal Monastery
heritage, and often return to Dharmsala to be closer to HH The Dalai Lama.
Bodhgaya Namgayl (Where Arthur often stays while in Bodhgaya and Attends the Morning Pujas)

The abbot Ven. Ngawang Samten built Gandhen Phelgyeling Bodhgaya Monastery on the 3rd of February, 1938. He built this
monastery with the intention of giving his most sincere service to the progress of the Buddha Dharma. He sought help from the
government of Tibet and worked hard for many years gathering offerings and material supplies from India and the Kham
province in eastern Tibet. He built the monastery, providing it with all the sacred images and holy texts. The primary image of
Lord Maitreya stands 13 feet tall. Along with this there are three complete sets of Buddha's discourses and one set of treatises
composed by Indian scholars.

New students who enter the monastery must undergo a strenuous course of study which includes Buddhist logic, the Tenet
system composed by chang-kya Rolpai Dorjee, the path of tantra. In addition to this they must memorize all the tantric texts
and Sadhanas of Guhyasamaja, Yamantaka, Heruka and Kalachakra, and also the thirteen deities.

During an Abbot’s tenure at the monastery they teach Lamrim, mind training text, and Vanaya texts. At present there is one
substitute Abbot for the 45 monks residing there. The monastery is located in the main pilgrimage centre and provides any
help to Tibetan and foreign pilgrims. On the 3rd of April 1997, five representatives from the Bodhgaya Monastery namely
master Lungtok Gyatso, disciplinarian Tamdin Dorjee, Gen Kelsang, and Thupten Namdol had an audience with His Holiness
the Dalai Lama. At this meeting they relayed their story of success to the Dalai Lama and also their concerns. One of their
biggest concerns regarded maintaining the quality of the monastic education in the field of both Sutra and Tantra studies.
They felt it would be beneficial if Namgyal Monastery were to take full responsibility by integrating Bodhgaya Monastery into
Namgyal, there by taking responsibility for the restoration of monastic study and general maintenance.

In January 1998 Namgyal Monastery accepted the proposal to make the Gandhen Phelgyeling Monastery an integral part of it.
Later, on December 19th,1998, a small meeting was held with cabinet minister Kirti Rinpoche, the general secretary for His
Holiness the Dalai Lama, Lobsang Jinpa, the senior working tenure of Namgyal Monastery, and the working tenure of
Bodhgaya monastery. It was at this time that the rules and regulations to maintain the standard of the monastery concerning
both facilities and study were established.
About the Namgyal Monastery
Namgyal Tibet and India

Namgyal Monastery was founded in 16th-century Tibet by the second Dalai Lama, Gendun Gyatso. Since its founding, the
Namgyal monks have assisted the Dalai Lamas in public religious affairs and have performed ritual prayer ceremonies for the
welfare of Tibet. The monastery was also established as an esteemed center of learning, contemplation, and meditation on the
vast and profound Buddhist treatises.
Situated in Lhasa next to the Potala Palace, the private residence of the Dalai Lamas, Namgyal Monastery has played an
integral role in the Tibetan religious establishment over the centuries.

Namgyal in Exile: Dharamsala, India
residence of His Holiness. To this day, nearly fifty years later, the Tibetan religious, artistic and intellectual traditions are being
preserved and maintained through the cooperative effort of the Dalai Lama and the Namgyal monks.

The curriculum and the rigors of monastic life have been meticulously maintained throughout the journey from Tibet into exile.
The novice monks of today must first pass a series of challenging entrance examinations and, if accepted, undertake the
traditional years of philosophical study.

Because Namgyal monks assist His Holiness the Dalai Lama and are frequently traveling with him, they require a more
streamlined course of study focusing on the essentials of sutra and tantra. His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama has innovatively
addressed and modified the traditional curriculum, including a new syllabus and program of study, which is becoming a model
for other Tibetan monasteries.
